Bad for the liver?
A low-carb diet does not just cause cosmetic weight loss. It can also effectively burn internal fat, where you can’t see it. In your liver for example.
A new study evaluated a low-carb diet in people with signs of fatty liver disease (very common) with excellent results:
- Daily Mail: It’s NOT just alcohol! Why toast and potatoes may also cause liver damage
- Diabesity in Practice: A pilot study to explore the role of a low-carbohydrate intervention to improve GGT levels and HbA1c
Several earlier studies have showed similar results [1 2]. Perhaps a low-carb diet should be the standard treatment for fatty liver disease, just as with obesity and type 2 diabetes?
