“I Want to Continue Forever!”

Challenge

This year over 67,000 people have signed up for FREE guidance, meal plans, recipes, shopping lists, troubleshooting tips, etc., via the two-week low-carb challenge.

What could happen if you were to take it? Here’s feedback from this week (and note, this is one the last opportunities ever to sign up for our first low-carb challenge!).

Feedback

Dr. Eenfeldt,

I completed the two-week challenge at the beginning of the month and didn’t have a chance to write about my impressions until now. I lost 8 lbs (3.5 kg) over that first two weeks and was very happy about that. Some things I noticed for me:

  1. I was still getting hungry in the afternoon (say, between 3-5 pm). I didn’t have any other hunger pangs outside of that window.
  2. I noticed that there were times I’d reach for food even though I might not be hungry – especially after a stressful conversation or situation. And while I didn’t “cheat” by eating non-LCHF foods, these were extra calories my body didn’t really need.
  3. My biggest complaint about the 2-week challenge is the lack of variety at breakfast. I love eggs too, but still… I’ve since tried to make the porridges on your website and frankly found them unpalatable. I think I could make them better with Splenda and some ingredient changes, but do not want to introduce even low-carb sweeteners at this point. I think I will try to make them savory instead. Will let you know what I discover. The oopsie breads are a god-send. Even though they are “eggy” they provided enough variety to make breakfast better.

Since the challenge my weight loss has tapered off. I’ve only lost another 2-3 pounds (1 kg) since ending the challenge. This week I’m starting to record all my foods in MyFitnessPal to understand nutrition content and calories and see if I can make a few tweaks there.

My exercise has gone down a bit so I’m going to make sure I boost that up again and I notice that my water intake has tapered somewhat as well. Lastly, stress (due to family issues) is going up and that is never good for me. I’m going to find some measures to improve that situation.

Thanks again. I’m going to continue to use the content on Diet Doctor to help with my weight loss – I still have another 20 lbs (9 kg) I’d like to go.

Regards,

Dave

Dear Dr Eenfeldt,

First, thank you so much for devising this LCHF diet. I think that it is a fantastic diet and it is fairly easy to stick to it since the protein and fat content satiates hunger and I feel satisfied after each meal. Since I am living and working in Vietnam and my work entails a lot of meals out, I could not follow the diet plan to the T since I did not have many meals at home, but what I did was to follow the diet principles and cut out the carbs and make sure that I was eating enough fat.

It did not feel like a diet! I was happy most of the time.
It did not feel like a diet! I was happy most of the time. I only had some headaches in the first few days but it went away after a while. I lost 4 kilos (9 lbs) during the two weeks – most of the weight loss was in the first week when I lost practically a pound a day! I was very happy! In the second week, the weight loss was less, but it was my fault since I could not follow the diet properly. But it is a good start and I am back on track now. The motivating messages and emails every day with meal plans during the two week challenge were great and kept me going.

I am very encouraged and I think that I can follow this diet to lose more weight. Before I go any further, I am female, aged 54. I had endometrial cancer this year (thankfully stage 1A) and I was found to be diabetic just before my operation and I am on Janumet. So on this diet, it is fantastic as my blood sugar went from around 8 mmol/l (144 mg/dl) in the mornings to 6.5 mmol/l (117 mg/dl) and under 6 mmol/l (108 mg/dl) for some days, now I am confident enough now not to take my blood sugar readings every morning as I used to do! From this aspect alone, I think the diet is fantastic. I would like to lose 20-30 kilos (44-66 lbs). That is my goal. I hope that I can attain it as I have been overweight all my life (but finding it harder to diet and lose weight as I grow older though I exercise and practice mindful eating most of the time).

So thank you so much. I joined as a member as the info on your website is really informative and I would like to support you. I hope that I can do this long term and finally lose the weight that has been with me for a long time.

Warm regards,
Siu

Hello,

I just wanted to say thank you for sharing this diet and for the simple, free, and easy to follow meal plans and recipes. I am 36 years old, and have been relatively healthy for all of my life. I am under a doctors care for psoriatic arthritis, however it’s been under control until just recently.

About six months ago, for reasons still unknown to me, my health started going haywire! All kinds of symptoms, sinus, depression, psoriatic flare ups, weight gain, hormonal changes (the list goes on) started presenting themselves for no apparent reason.

Lots of blood tests later, I found myself with 0 answers. My doctor suggested I think about changing my diet. I did Paleo for about 2 months, and found it to be challenging to uphold with little reward. I stumbled across your website and the keto lifestyle because a friend posted it on Facebook. I decided to give it a try, as there was no commitment and nothing to lose (except a few extra pounds)!

All I can say is thank you! After about 2 weeks on the diet my life has taken a complete 180! I feel like my old self again and my crazy sinus issues, headaches, and even my sleep have all improved. I have lost a little weight, and finally feel like I have energy to do the things I enjoy again. My doctors are all amazed.

There is definitely a link between the diet and my newfound wellbeing. It seems completely crazy, but this “diet” has changed my life. With the help of your website, I feel confident that I can stay committed to this lifestyle change and just wanted to say thanks! I am truly grateful.

Kind Regards,
Devon

Dr. Andreas,
Thanks so much for this program. I want to continue forever!
For the past two weeks, I really took the time to understand how my body reacts to certain foods. The LCHF challenge was amazing. The meals were great! My family joined in with me on a part time basis and they enjoyed it too. What I really liked about it, I stayed satisfied. There were times when I gave in to temptations, but I quickly learned how badly I felt afterwards. I lost 3 lbs (1 kg) and the side hip pain is gone. Thanks so much for this program. I want to continue forever!

While I lost 4 lbs (2 kg) and 0.5 inches (1 cm) from my waist, I started the 2-week challenge after I had already started a low-carb diet 4 weeks before that. So I’ve been eating low carb for 6 weeks and have been 12/8 fasting from the outset.

I have lost 12 lbs (5 kg) and 3 inches (6 cm) from my waist to date. I never experienced the adjustment “flu”, nor the “increased energy”. It was helpful to have the simple recipes that were easily adjusted down for one person. It was even more helpful to read the comments, especially the criticisms/corrections. For example, I diligently followed your recipe for “pizza” and it was a disaster. The eggs ran and separated from the cheese. After I baked it, it tasted like an omelet. I then read the comments of those with similar experiences and recommendations to reduce the number of eggs. After that I read the comments for each recipe before beginning to cook and made adjustments that I thought were reasonable.

I also think that you should have either a calculator or recommendations for the amount of daily intake of protein and fat. The dinner recipes have approximately 6 oz (117 g) of uncooked meat per serving. In addition to the 2-egg breakfast, as well as all the cheese and cream, that may be too much protein for a woman (as I am) but adequate for a man.

Having said all that, I began low carb six weeks ago after discovering your website and reading the articles. I am quite pleased with my results to date and plan to continue. My goal is to lose 10 more lbs (5 kg) and at that point assess whether I can sustain the diet indefinitely.

Thank you,
Maria

It is a life saver for me, an 80-year old who loves to cook anyway. I have lost six pounds (3 kg) in two weeks and am confident with your menus, that I will stay on tract with this challenge. I look forward to losing until I lose enough to get rid of Metformin, as a type 2 diabetic. My primary doctor has been absolutely no help whatsoever with any guidance on diet.

I survived breast cancer at age 70. So you know I accept your challenge with this computer program. I look forward to your e-mails each morning. Your help as been immense. The medical community is becoming aware but unwilling to take the time to educate. I look forward to reading the Kindle book recommended on “The Evolution of Medicine: Join The Movement”.

Hello Andreas,
I like the LCHF diet very much. It has tons of flavor and is easy to stick with.
I like the LCHF diet very much. It has tons of flavor and is easy to stick with. I am never hungry, and I eat till satisfied. The only issue I have is I am not losing much weight. I have lost about 1 1/2 lbs (0.5 kg). I will keep doing the diet cause it has all the foods I love. I did join the 30-day trial so hopefully I will have more weight loss to report then.

Thank You,
Kris

Dear Andreas,

I loved it. Thank you so much for the thought and care. It was great to have a mail everyday and simple recipes that were fun to try out. I was also amazed at how predictable my responses were. That made me feel normal. I mean to say: “Today you may feel sluggish, headachey etc” and then, exactly when my energy was picking up and I was wondering whether that was related to the diet or something else your mail suggested “Today you may be feeling new energy.” It was great to accompanied so carefully and daily.

I am very interested in how this changes one’s mood and more particularly how we speak to ourselves, our inner dialogues and stories. I will certainly continue this programme and I am thinking about doing the whole 2 weeks all over again. I am going for a week’s hike tomorrow so the eating plan may be a little more difficult to maintain (collective cooking) but I’ll do the best I can and then do another 2 weeks on return.

I have recommended your programme to many people to try out.

Thank you,
Dain

Hi there,
I feel like I have the tools to continue being in control of my weight and subsequently my health, for the rest of my life!
I loved the low-carb challenge although I had to adapt all of the meal ideas to be vegetarian friendly. Even though I am fortunate enough not to have any diet related medical conditions to contend with, I am delighted to have discovered this way of eating which, along with IF, has seen me lose 17 pounds (8 kg) in weight in 2 months, so I am now back at my pre-pregnancy weight of 27 years ago (!!) just in time for my wedding next week! I feel like I have the tools to continue being in control of my weight and subsequently my health, for the rest of my life!

Thank you for everything you do and for sharing it all so generously with us!

Warmest wishes
Donna
