Before and after
After quite a bit of doubt, Åsa found the way to low carb and ended up losing 77 lbs. (35 kg) without measuring or counting. Here’s how it happened:
I’m a 45 year-old woman and I read Diet Doctor every day. During 2015 I lost 77 lbs. (35 kg) with the help of low carb. My BMI has gone from 35 to 24, but things never went far enough to give me diabetes, heart problems or the like. Unfortunately, I can’t brag about such health improvements.
It was highly unlikely that I was going to lose my excessive weight. I’m not one of those who buy cookbooks, gym cards or health food. One time, I lost 33 lbs. (15 kg), but otherwise I just tried desperately to stop eating candy. I had an uncontrollable sweet tooth and ate candy every day. When I at last managed to stop, it turned out it wasn’t enough to make me lose weight.
I didn’t believe in dieting. People diet all the time, but rarely ever lose weight. Nor did I believe in LCHF. Good friends of mine had been eating LCHF for well over 10 years, but they were still fat. Gary Taubes presentation on YouTube finally convinced me that it could work.
I am so grateful that I’ve managed to do this with such a small effort. I haven’t counted or measured ketones, just eaten the low-carb approved food and weighed myself every morning to get feedback. And I’ve cheated with ice cream, cake and the like at least twice a month. Perhaps that doesn’t make me the best role model within LCHF, but it has worked for me. My sweet tooth is under control, now I only eat sweet things when there’s something I really want from time to time, it’s not like before when I used to eat anything that came my way.
